Derek Munn

Derek Munn

Derek is the Director of Policy & Public Affairs at the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapy, a role embracing government and parliamentary liaison, policy, campaigning and the organisation's work in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Prior to this he was Director of Public Affairs for equality organisation Stonewall.

Until 2007, Derek was Special Adviser to the First Minister of Scotland. Derek advised the First Minister on a range of policy areas including the environment, health, Europe, the constitution and culture. Before this senior role in government he held influential positions in the Scottish Parliament and a political party.

Earlier in his career Derek ran the research and training programmes of the Scottish Council for Single Homeless and was President of the National Union of Students Scotland. He has extensive voluntary experience including chairing the board of Edinvar Housing Association.
