Changing the way we live
Working towards a One Planet Future
If everyone in the world were to consume the earth's resources at the rate we do in Scotland, we would need three planets to support us.
Of course, we only have one planet - and we're using its resources at a faster rate than it can replenish them. But there is a way in which we can live within the Earth's natural capacity and still enjoy a high quality of life.
One Planet Future uses the concept of ecological footprint to measure our impact on the planet. Our footprint is a measure of the resources we use in our lifestyle, showing us if we are living within environmental limits or not, and helping us make informed decisions to reduce our footprint and work towards achieving a One Planet lifestyle.
WWF Scotland is working to influence national and local governments to reduce their global footprint.
