Teacher Education

WWF Scotland works to ensure that teachers receive the training and support they need to effectively deliver sustainable development and global citizenship as part of the Curriculum for Excellence.

We work in partnership with Teacher Education Institutions, Local Authorities, LTS and others to provide training and continuing professional development for teachers and teacher educators. Below you can find details of both our project work and our personal development tools for educators.

Initial Teacher Education

WWF Scotland, as a member of the International Development Education Association for Scotland and is contributing to the Scottish Global Learning Project's Initial Teacher Education initiative funded by DfID.

The initiative is working with a network of teacher educators to promote education for global citizenship and sustainable development throughout Scotland's seven ITE Universities by organising Professional Development events; Research Development workshops; Research Projects and Publications and a network website (Global Approach Network).

This professional development toolkit for teachers provides support for those responsible for introducing the ideas and concepts of joined-up thinking to colleagues. The activities included in this resource can be used in a variety of contexts and provide practical activities that can be used in the classroom.

Linkingthinking: New perspectives on thinking and Learning for Sustainability

This resource is designed to provide more in-depth systems thinking knowledge, tools and skills to generate new perspectives and develop joined-up thinking. It is suitable for use by educators at all levels of the education system from upper primary to post-graduate. In our highly complex and interdependent world, Linkingthinking provides the necessary skills to help us find our way.
